Odyssey Lifestyle Care Communities has successfully acquired a prestigious parcel of land in one of the Gold Coast’s most coveted areas – within Cru Collective’s $2 billion, 14 acre waterfront master plan estate.
Located at Lake Orr Drive Burleigh Waters, the new Odyssey site spans 3,600m2 and will offer lake, hinterland and ocean views. Odyssey purchased the site from Cru Collective with an existing approved masterplan allowing for buildings of up to 45 metres. Odyssey CEO and Founder Phil Usher says the purchase of this new site is about more than the acquisition of land, it’s about creating vibrant communities where seniors can thrive, connect and celebrate life.
“We have set a high standard in the industry with our consumer led model and Odyssey’s expansion into Burleigh Waters enables us another opportunity to continue our vision of creating world-class communities that will reshape the aged care industry,” says Mr Usher.
“We are currently in talks with architects on how many levels and apartments will be viable, but this community will include a combination of one, two, and three bedroom apartments with additional penthouse options available.
“This is the ideal blend of retirement and aged care, with no waiting lists and you don’t need to move again as all the services, such as care, are delivered to you as needed into your home from our dedicated on-site team.
Spearheading the $2 Billion Burleigh Waters master plan is Cru Collective Managing Director Chris Bolger, who says the overall site presents a unique opportunity within the Gold Coast’s ‘golden triangle’ of Burleigh Heads, Broadbeach and Robina.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Odyssey to our Burleigh Waters project. They’re a leading authority in aged care and will make a valuable addition to our masterplan vision. Mr Bolger said acquiring a site of this magnitude had sparked the interest of some of the country’s biggest names in retail and commercial ensuring a world-class considered project.
“The size and location of this site enables it to become a thriving precinct and will attract some heavy hitters. Preliminary plans include a mix of waterfront residential, retail – including a market square, commercial, medical, and now; the exciting addition of an Odyssey Lifestyle Care Community, and we are thrilled to be working with Phil and his expert team.”
Civil works and site establishment commences early July for the construction of the entire estate’s internal roads, stormwater, sewer and electrical infrastructure. The acquisition follows Odyssey’s recent settlement on a site in Hope Island, alongside the milestone of the first floor slab being poured for their Chevron community, which is scheduled for completion in 2025.
Mr Usher says Odyssey is built around a resort style environment offering a perfect hybrid of retirement and aged care, which has resonated with the wider community.
“The Burleigh Waters development, like with Robina and Chevron, will be built to reflect the current living needs of seniors, which is based on feedback we’ve received from Robina and the wider community,” says Mr Usher.
“Since Robina opened in mid 2020, we’re adapt with seniors’ living preferences and we always go out of our way to understand what our cohort need and want.”
