February brought with it rain rain and more rain; more than 700 millimetres of rainfall caused some unwanted delays, but despite this the works on site have progressed well.
With the internal and external piling works completed, the capping beam that sits on top of the perimeter piles was constructed to the full perimeter, which was formed, reinforced and poured in two sections.
The next step was to install the dewatering system consisting of three deep pump wells, and start the excavation to install the structural steel internal bracing to the perimeter capping beam, approximately one meter below ground level.
Once this was in place, bulk excavation works commenced and the removal of the foundation piles from ground level down.
As at 29th of February we’ve removed on average two metres in depth across the site. This work will continue into March, with the perimeter piling wall concrete works coordinated as the excavation gets deeper.
